Terms of Service

These are the terms you agree to by using Dough. The short version: it is a tool for looking at your own money, it is not advice, and you should not rely on it for anything you cannot check.

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using Dough, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Dough is operated by [OPERATING ENTITY — set LEGAL_ENTITY].

2. Dough is not financial advice

Dough is an informational tool, not a financial adviser, broker, tax adviser or accountant. Nothing in the application — including anything written by the assistant, any insight, budget, category, forecast, anomaly flag or investment summary — is financial, investment, tax, legal or accounting advice, and none of it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything.

Decisions about your money are yours. Consult a qualified professional before acting on anything you see here.

3. The assistant is a language model and can be wrong

Dough's assistant is built on a third-party large language model. Output of this kind can be incorrect, incomplete, out of date, or confidently wrong, including about arithmetic and about your own figures. It may misread a transaction, miscategorize spending, or state a number that does not match your records.

Check anything that matters against your own statements. Do not treat the assistant's output as a source of truth about your finances.

Availability of assistant features is not guaranteed, and use of them is subject to usage limits which may change.

4. Account data comes from third parties

Balances, transactions and holdings imported from a connected institution are supplied by that institution through Plaid. They may be delayed, incomplete, duplicated, or wrong, and connections can break without notice. Your institution's own records are authoritative, not ours. Reconcile against your statements.

5. Your responsibilities

  • Keep your password confidential and do not share your account.
  • Tell us promptly at [CONTACT ADDRESS — set LEGAL_CONTACT_EMAIL] if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else.
  • Use Dough only for your own financial data, or data you are authorised to access.
  • Do not attempt to breach or circumvent the service's security or access controls, disrupt it for other users, or use it to break the law.
  • Do not attempt to evade usage limits, or use automated means to consume resources beyond what the interface and documented API allow.
  • Understand that anyone in your household can see that household's data. Invite only people you intend to share your finances with.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of anything you enter yourself.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms.

6. Service availability

Dough is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uptime, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance, third-party failures, or reasons outside our control. Features may change or be withdrawn.

We take regular backups, but you should not treat Dough as the only copy of any financial record that matters to you. You can export your data at any time from your settings.

7. Your data and your account

You keep ownership of the data you put into Dough. You grant us only the permission needed to operate the service for you — to store it, process it, display it back to you, and send it to the third parties described in the Privacy Policy.

You can export your data or delete your account at any time from your settings. Deletion is described in the Privacy Policy and is not reversible.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dough is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any figure it displays is accurate or complete.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, [OPERATING ENTITY — set LEGAL_ENTITY] will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of Dough — including any financial decision made in reliance on it.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and where the change is material and we have your address, we will tell you by email. Continuing to use Dough after a change means you accept the updated terms.
